As a homeowner, I know how difficult it can be to keep your house or apartment clean, especially with a busy schedule. Growing up, I always appreciated a clean and organized area. When I rented my first apartment in Cape Town, it was difficult to keep my place clean while juggling work and school. I am now living in a house with my family of five and the struggle to keep the space clean continues. In this article, I will give key tips on what helped me be able to keep my home clean and tidy during busy and hectic weeks.
Have a Routine Cleaning Day or Time
One of the best ways to keep your home clean is to dedicate a certain day or time to cleaning. There are many different ways this method can be applied. You should choose a time of day that fits your schedule. For me, I clean on Sunday morning because that is the time that my family is out of the house and I can focus on cleaning. My Sunday morning cleaning ritual has become a weekly routine for me. Some people might not have a schedule such as mine that has the same free time every week. In this case, you may want to set a certain time of each day such as 30 minutes before you sleep. If you are able to dedicate 30 minutes every night before you sleep to cleaning, you will be able to make up for the lack of free time you have on the given day. There are pros and cons to both of these methods. When you clean once a week, your entire home will be clean all at once and it should stay clean most of the week but it is a couple of hour job. When you clean for 30 minutes a night, only one area of your home will get clean each night so you cannot appreciate the entire house being clean all at once although you won’t have to spend a lot of time cleaning.
